CHESHIRE HOME ANNUAL STREET COLLECTION

Volunteers needed! Cheshire Home Summerstrand's Street Collection is taking place on Saturday 13 October 2018 at major shopping centres and various other outlets in PE between 9 and 1pm. We are aiming, once again, for a record amount and we need about 40 people to collect (shake-a-tin) for either a 1 or 2-hour shift. Invitation to an important leaders meeting to update on imminent threats to freedom of religion.
Freedom of religion in South Africa is facing serious challenges and threats in multiple areas. We cannot afford to fold our hands, close our eyes and block our ears - or we will quickly discover that the rights we often take for granted, will be severely eroded.  
Freedom of Religion South Africa (FOR SA) is working tirelessly to help ensure that our rights are protected and promoted, but it is critical that religious leaders know and understand what is happening. To this end, we will be conducting a nationwide tour to meet with religious leaders and concerned citizens, where we will present an update on key issues and highlight recent

BIBLE READING MARATHON

Illona de Wit, a Despatch wife and mother, is organising a Bible reading marathon in the Despatch Main Town Hall from 5am on Friday 26th October to 8pm on Monday 29th October.  Participants will join in reading the Bible publicly from the start of Genesis to the end of Revelation in 15 minute slots, taking an estimated 84 hours to read it through continuously. English, Afrikaans and Xhosa versions of the Bible will be available for the readers.
Prospective marathoners are asked to complete the application form - one per individual - and return forms to Illona at illona.dewit@gmail.com / 073 350 6999 or to Elmarita Wicks, who is helping her organise the event, at elmarieg.wicks@gmail.com / 072 357 2829.
