The conferences went very well and the response from churches and individuals were very encouraging,
From the conference it was clear that the following will be the major initiatives before and during the World Cup:
Big Screen Events,
Ubabalo eAfrica Soccer and Life Coaching,
Global Community Games,
Sports Services,
Street Evangelism,
Festivals and Fan Parks;
Receiving and Hosting Outreach Teams.
Guidelines for each of these initiatives were made available and it is exiting to see how churches , ministries and individual are running with the vision of using the World Cup as a platform to minister to people. There were a number of churches that stick there hands up very high. That is exciting to see. We had a good response during the street evangelism workshop, that were our responsibility, and people came forward with many good ideas.
The initiative here in Uitenhage are also starting to gain momentum. Please get in contact with Corne Slabbert if you want to get involved.
TUG Conference Highlights
JohnJohn Moeti, previous captain of Bafana Bafana was the guest speaker. He was so humble and down to earth, shared his testimony and gave us insight into the workings of a national footbal team. We were very blessed and encouraged by his message. Seeing here is John against a backdrop of the new Multi Purpose Stadium. There are more conference photos on our website.
1.2.3. Conference Highlights
Putting words into action is what it is all about. The 1.2.3 Conference took place at Waverley Hills outside Uitenhage. We only attended the outreach at Bloza, a small community nearby, on Saturday. This served as practicals for the students who underwent the training during the week. We have done outreaches in the community before so we could helped them with their preperations. More than 100 children from all ages arrived and the outreach was a huge success. The students that were well trained trained by Bernie Bitter from Sports Outreach International, did an excellent Job. Well done.
